It has been fun and fantastic to dance the term away with the Preps, Grade 1 and 2 students!
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Easter. Enjoy the school holidays and see you in Term 2.

Templestowe Park today was ablaze with orange as we celebrated Harmony Day. In Performing Arts the Grade 1/2 students watched two videos discussing what the day means and a music clip “The Orange Ribbon Song”. Students then discussed words associated with the videos and Harmony Day before completing their own acrostic poems.
discussions: - "Equality - it means everyone is equal.” Bella 2M - “Harmony Day is when we appreciate other cultures in Australia.” Alex 2AF - People may celebrate by getting dressed up in Traditional costumes. “We wear saris for weddings and special Indian occasions.” Katara 1/2T Today was a little bit of a different day in Performing Arts as there was a timetable change due to Grade 5/6 Camp. I was fortunate enough to work with Grade 3K and 3F. As this Friday is the 'National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence', we watched a short animated movie from the associated website. Students then created their own skit about bullying. There was some fantastic conversation generated and links made to what has been learnt in Positive Education at TPPS. Great work!
It is hard to believe that we are already into week 6 of Term and with Easter hot on our heels it’s almost a wrap!
The new Preps have settled into the Performing Arts lessons and routines so well. We are currently working on creating a butterfly dance that will teach students locomotor and non-locomotor movements along with some choreographic devices - unison and repetition. Grade 1 and 2 students are collaborating well and are busy in small groups creating a dance that represents a day at the beach. There are a few menacing sharks in the water, we may have to enlist the help of Mick Fanning to help us control the situation. Like the Preps, the Grade 1 and 2 students are working on incorporating locomotor and non-locomotor movements along with some choreographic devices - unison, canon repetition and retrograde. |
