Welcome back! I hope everyone had an enjoyable School holidays and from chatting with the students there certainly was some fantastic adventures and experiences had during the break.
The last two weeks has been about setting expectations in Performing Arts and getting to know one another by playing different games -acting skits, improvisation, movement and movie trivia. It has been enjoyable working with the Grade 3 to 6 students again! For Term 3, we will have a break from choir and instead will commence a dance troupe. At this stage it looks like there will be a junior and senior group. Each group will work together to choreograph dances with Mrs Daly’s guidance and then rehearse to share later in the term at assembly. If your child is interested please come along Tuesday 31st July 1pm, so that we can finalise our numbers. Thousands of Victorian students are perfecting their dance moves, memorising their words and tuning their instruments as part of this year’s Victoria’s State Schools Spectacular. Musicians, singers, dancers, skaters, puppeteers and circus artistes will amaze an audience of more than 10,000 people at Melbourne’s Hisense Arena on Saturday 15 September, with shows at 1pm and 6:30pm. This year’s show, titled “With the Beat”, explores ideas of belonging and identity. The journey of exploration will see Hisense Arena transformed into a mystical Venetian masquerade ball and a wondrous Steam Punk Fairground. There is something for everyone’s musical taste. Talented vocalists and musicians will perform more than 40 songs from artists like Macklemore, Imagine Dragons, Shepard, Tim Minchin and Beyoncé. This annual event provides a unique training opportunity for students onstage as well as behind the scenes on audio, lighting and video production, stage management, costume and film, make up and photography. Tickets to the event are on sale now through Ticketek.
